Apple Picking

Just a few photos from our apple picking trip last weekend. Nathan loved it! Riding in a wagon pulled by a tractor, picking and then eating apples, a few cousins to play with - who could ask for more :-)

Flashback to 5 years ago...

Tomorrow (July 31st) is our 5th anniversary! I just started looking through a lot of our digitial photos, and I got inspired to seize the moment and post a few of my favorite ones here (thanks to Dwight, Ajay, Charnsak, and Jim for many of these!)

A few photos courtesy of Ajay

At the end of May, Ajay and Katrina swung by for a visit. We had a low-key BBQ and Ajay took some very cool photos. I figured I'd steal them and post them on our blog :-) And now we have photo evidence than Nathan has actually touched an animal himself (an incredibly rare occurrence!)

4th of July

We took a mini-vacation in NH over the 4th of July weekend, and Nathan had a blast! To put it in perspective, I get the impression that NH is now high on Nathan's top ten list, along with Drumlin Farm and (yes..) Dunkin' Donuts. NH does have an appeal of it's own, but most of the credit goes to his cousins, who humored him to no end :-)

Drumlin Farm

Two weeks ago we took Nathan to Drumlin Farm for the first time, and he loved it. Since then he's talked about it several times a day and made it pretty clear that he wanted to go back. Yesterday he won. His cousin Max joined us, and that made it even better. I tried to get a few good pictures of Nathan and Max, but I was competing with the animals to get their attention, and the animals won hands down...

Nathan still has as love-hate relationship with animals. Yesterday he wanted the sheep to be fed some grass, but was hesitant to do it himself. Fortunately Max fed the sheep, and that made Nathan's day (a lot of smiling, clapping, and shouting).

The rest of these photos are mostly to humor Nathan. He's been asking to see pictures of Drumlin Farm quite a bit, and until yesterday we didn't have any of our own. Fortunately a Google search led us to some photos on Flickr, but I think Nathan will enjoy these (and the ones above) better:

When he plays with farm animal toys he often calls one of them mommy and one of them daddy, and I think we both find that pretty sweet. But I'll keep my fingers crossed that he doesn't say that when he see this picture...

Professional Pictures

Nathan's "school" brings in professional photographers about twice a year. Since he's been going there for almost two years, he's had a few chances to pose. To date, he's been either too upset to even sit for the camera or teary-eyed in the pictures. This latest time Nathan wasn't too afraid of the photographer, and actually made it through three poses without crying. However, as you can see, he was a bit wary... We're thinking that the first picture is one to save to show his friends or for his wedding to embarrass him a little.

Classic poopy look

A bit skeptical... Crayons are not supposed to be this big!

Finally a better shot, although Nathan is still not smiling. Perhaps we should take him to a photographer ourselves for a chance of a smile...
